UTICA, NY (September 14, 2009) - Have you ever dreamed of being on stage at the Stanley? Then the annual Stanley Stage Party will make that dream come true!

The Stanley Center for the Arts proudly invites you to its 2009 Stage Party, Luminara - Tuscany in the Footlights,on Friday, September 25 at 6:30pm at the Stanley Center for the Arts in Downtown Utica, NY. Kick-off the Stanley performance season at our annual gala event that promises to be the most memorable and stellar fundraising event of the year!

Begin the evening with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the Stanley's Adirondack Bank Grand Lobby followed by a Tuscan-inspired dinner catered by Mano a Bocca. Then, dance the night away on the newly expanded Stanley stage to the swinging sounds of The Rochester Rat Pack, known for celebrating the "Cocktail Culture" revival with the music of Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack pallies (notably Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.). They're hot, they're cool, and they're highly refined.

Take part in the crowd pleasing Stage Party silent auction that includes a variety of exciting items like getaway packages and spa services from both The Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa in Lake Placid as well as Mirbeau Inn and Spa in Skaneateles; unique and one-of-a-kind jewelry crafted by local artists; giftware by MacKenzie-Childs; a custom portrait by local artist Greg Lawler; tickets to a show at the New Victory Theatre in New York City; an array of athletic packages courtesy of Paragon Athletic Club, Pine Hills Golf Course, and Utica College; and a chance to be an Editor for the Day at the Observer-Dispatch; just to name a few!

Most importantly, all funds raised benefit the annual operations of the Stanley Center for the Arts including its Arts in Education Institute, Stanley Yellow Bus Presentations and the Exhibitions Program for local and regional artists.

Tickets for this not-to-be missed event are $125 per person and include open bar and dinner. The attire is black tie optional and valet parking will be available. For reservations or more information, please call the Stanley at 315-724-1113.

More about the Stanley's programs and services

For more than twenty years, the Arts in Education Institute (AEI) has developed and refined its own distinctive approach to arts and education, one that challenges all students to learn about and through the arts. AEI works in partnership with pre-K through twelfth grade educators to develop experiential studies focusing on works of art, including dance, music, theatre, visual and literary arts. Intensive teacher training in workshops with teaching artists during the AEI annual Summer Session strives to inspire new teaching strategies applicable to all components of the curriculum as well as the arts and aesthetics.

The Stanley Yellow Bus Presentations has brought the joy of live Stanley performances to 250,000 area schoolchildren over the last twenty years. This program provides area school and school districts a cost-effective opportunity (less than $2 per child) to utilize the arts as an educational resource for students and teachers. These live performances are a great introduction to the performing arts and an effective, creative way to explore a variety of curriculum areas.

The Stanley's Exhibitions Program features the works of the area's established and emerging artists and has developed into an outstanding year-round program utilizing the Stanley's Loretta M. Romano Room Gallery and New Corridor Gallery Spaces. All exhibits are free and open to the public.
